After the establishment of the Color Research Institute by the efforts of Dr. Ali Asghar Sabagh Alvani in 1376 (1997), he took on the task of launching a specialized research center in the field of color and polymer engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology, with the positive opinion of Dr. Alireza Rahai, the then president of the university, aiming for closer interaction with the industrial sector. Finally, in 1383 (2004), this research center was established at Amirkabir University of Technology as the leading university in this field, in order to meet the needs of the country's color and polymer industry. The Color and Polymer Research Institute, after more than two decades of activity, is currently operating as one of the specialized engineering references in the country.

In addition to accepting graduate students (Master's and Ph.D.) at Amirkabir University of Technology, this research institute collaborates with many institutions, organizations, and active companies in the field of color and polymer engineering in the country, benefiting from suitable research facilities, equipped laboratories, and specialized human resources. It has always strived to cover the existing industrial needs as a specialized center and work towards improving the current situation.

Currently, Dr. Ali Asghar Sabagh Alvani is the head of the Color and Polymer Research Institute at Amirkabir University of Technology.
